I have heard about snap programs not seeing the system but I have imagined that could be by design, at least in some cases (a program might want to "see" just what it needs etc).

Trying to navigate manually to the drive, the /media folder is not seen. I ended up with a program that starts but doesn't react to the presence of a DVD. Installing MakeMKV took about 30 minutes with two errors of the form error: cannot perform the following tasks: - Download snap "makemkv" (351) from channel "stable" (download too slow: 0.00 bytes/sec) which made me restart the installation twice.) (So, once again I went against my better judgement based on much past experience and installed snapd etc. The number of posts caused on this forum by failing to read instructions is just mind boggling.Snap seemed to me the easiest way to install MakeMKV. Installation of addons from zip files is dealt with in the wiki Im sorry if this all seems rather silly but as a linux newbie this is all new to me. When i downloaded makemkv the forum gave instructions on how to install (which i dont think we that clear eather) and after a few hours of head scratching i worked it out and got it going. The post says to install into the plugin/video path to make it act like a plug in (i presume it means the XBMC plugin/video folder) but i cant find it and once i do manage to find it i still need to know how to install, do i copy & paste it in somewhere? do i have to use the terminal and type in some kind of command? what i need to know is how do i install the plug in? Post 1 says install zip file, if this was windows i would just extract it then double click the exe file. (, 13:09)dj_phd Wrote: Thanks nickr but im still a bit confused.
